I’m looking at raising the profile of te ao Maori in my school’s physical environment – particularly outside of the classrooms. Is there any way I can see what the person who looked at te ao Maori and other cultural perspectives discovered?
    Kind regards
    Carl

The school that I was working with had already engaged with their Māori whānau and iwi and has an ongoing focus of honouring Te Tiriti. The physical environment was a small component of that wider mahi.

In terms of the physical environment we noticed was things like signage, use of te reo, books in te reo and imagery. Other important conversation we had were about how welcoming the reception area was for Māori (position, layout, style) and the way wet spaces and dry spaces were used (where students were eating).

    Regards
    Lynne
